quiet presence

Thank you

My work is mostly visual, so I don't write much, but I wanted to thank everyone visiting my page and checking out my photography and poems on socials. It's been over half a year since I started this blog, and it felt like a good moment to finally say a word or two.

For the past 6 months, photography has been quite therapeutic for me. It gave me a reason to go out, stay creative consistently, and it enriched my spiritual life.
I've practiced Zen long before I got my first proper camera, but photography can be a very interesting form of meditation. It naturally teaches you to stay aware and present - not just on the cushion, but out there, in everyday life.

There is also the act of taking the photo itself. My approach is similar to Kyudo: if you do the "movements" correctly, you won't miss. I try to apply principles of wabi-sabi and let things unfold naturally.
As a quick example, Yugen (I'll make a separate post about these principles one day) is about mystery and hidden depth. I explore it through partially obscured subjects, reflections, shadows, or keeping things slightly out of focus. I like tight framing, focusing on something you might only notice for a fraction of a second while walking down the street, or moving from one room to another. The subtlety of everyday life, moment to moment, now after now.

So what am I really doing?
Maybe just paying attention, and sharing that.
